What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a wonderful tool that is used to change unwanted behaviors.  The human mind works on two levels, the conscious and the unconscious level.  During hypnosis, the conscious mind steps aside for a short period of time and allows the therapist to speak to the subconscious mind. When this takes place, suggestions made to the subconscious are accepted and unwanted behaviors are eliminated.  The reason for this is simple, the subconscious mind houses habits, both good and bad, emotions and memory. It also houses personality traits, intuition, creativity and perception. It is the subconscious mind that allows for changes to take place for the long term.  During hypnosis you are in an extremely relaxed state similar to when you are watching television and your mind just shuts down and your eyes close.
